Home Sweet Home
Now for requested updates on my living arrangements!
Not so great things:
-Our toilet's been leaking off and on since we got here. I think it's finally under control now though!
-As stated before, our internet has been finicky, so communication has been difficult.
Great Things:
- My new roommate Katie is great! She’s been helping me figure out life here in Port-de-Paix. We have a Sonlight family with 3 kiddos next door, then Tara & Megan - 2 other young single ladies - on the end.
-Discovered I have a queen sized bed instead of a twin! I only packed and shipped twin sized bedding though, but luckily there were sheets here and Megan gave me her old comforter- which I've actually been using because...
-WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING! Now again, it's been finicky – it was broken when we got here, and still doesn’t seem to be working perfectly, but it’s better than what I was expecting! Even without AC, I've actually been pretty comfortable temperature wise. It's been in the upper 90s, but I haven't been dying!
-WE HAVE HOT WATER! But you guessed it, finicky. I can’t seem to get it just right – it’s either too hot or too cold, but that’s ok! I’m glad to at least have a hot option!
-I don't need to sleep with a mosquito net because we haven't had ANY mosquitos in our apartment! Now my classroom on the other hand is a different story, but at least I can sleep in peace!
Here are some pictures of my place! It's still a little disorganized though as we have some of other people's stuff and are waiting for our stuff from the boat!

There are 3 apartments on top of some storage units on campus. I'm standing next to my apartment looking down the walkway towards the others (with some fellow missionaries).
When you walk to the end of the walkway outside my apartment, this is what you seen. Basically it's a trash dump... but notice the mountains in the back! Better pictures of those soon!
The kitchen
The living room. Luckily there was already furniture there!
Little hallway leading to my room, the bathroom and Katie's room on the right.
My room!
View from my bedroom window. Mostly trees, you can see a couple neighbors back there.
Next up, updates on what I've been doing during my first week in Haiti!
Your apartment looks nice!!!
