Support

As a volunteer missionary, I am required to raise support for my time in Haiti. It is a humbling experience to rely on others for my daily needs, but I am always encouraged by how the Lord uses my community to provide!

Would you consider becoming a monthly ministry partner with me? With 40 partners giving $50 a month, I will be fully funded! However, donations of any amount (monthly or one-time giving) are greatly appreciated

Your support means so much to me, and your donation will greatly impact the nation of Haiti! I couldn't do the work God has called me to without people like you to partner with me in this effort!

Budget: $20,000

Budget Details:

Airfare and Transportation- This covers flights to and from the US, in country flights from Port-Au-Prince to Port-De-Paix, and “taxi” and “tap-tap” costs since I will not have a vehicle in Haiti.

Meals and Special Occasions- Sonlight staff have one meal together each day school is in session.  The lunch meal is covered by part of the support raised by staff.  Special Occasions include all staff celebrations like Christmas, Easter, etc.

Healthcare- Although there is not technically health insurance for Sonlight staff, Sonlight does use a Christian organization that will provide basic health coverage.

Housing- Sonlight owns or rents apartments or homes that are used for staff housing.  This amount pays rent or reimburses construction costs to Sonlight for that housing, as well as pays for furnishings.

Utilities- Water, propane, & electricity. Sonlight uses diesel generators for powering staff homes.  The cost for the purchase, maintenance, and fuel for these generators is expensive.  Fuel is considerably more expensive in Haiti than the U.S.  It is currently about 36% more costly in Haiti for diesel fuel.

Freight and Customs- This covers the shipping costs for when I make food orders from the US, ship household items from the US, etc.

Mail Service- This is for postal costs during the year.

Salary- Staff salaries are set by the Board of Directors based on number of years on the field.  Although some of the basics are provided, personal costs for food (other than the one meal on school days), clothes,  phone, personal giving, or any other personal expenses are covered by staff salaries.

Deferred Investment- This money is set aside by Sonlight for when I return to the US after completing my mission term.  This was put in place by the Board of Directors to assist missionaries upon their return to the US for costs such as housing, automobile expenses, etc.
