Gentle Reminders
The past few weeks have had ups and downs. I went through a short season of not really wanting to leave. As I was spending time with friends and even meeting a bunch of new people, I struggled with keeping up my excitement and motivation. But recently, God has used a few different things to bring back my focus and enthusiasm. It's frustrating how easily we can be distracted from the things the Lord is calling us to! I've seen again lately the depravity of my heart and how quickly it wanders, but how patient and gracious the Lord is.
One thing that God has used that has been really helpful has been finding out that another one of my friends, Tayo, will also be heading to the mission field for the next year with the World Race!
Though we will be serving in different countries, knowing that we will be experiencing similar things makes me feel less crazy and less alone. As I've read through blog posts of others who have done the World Race I have been reminded of my heart for missions and my desire to know God more intimately.
God has also used blogs and articles like this: How to Be Beautiful & Have a Beautiful Home & Life and World’s 100 richest earned enough in 2012 to end global poverty 4 times over to remind me of the bigger picture.
He's used the book Multiply and verses like Luke 9:57-62 and to remind me of His great call on my (and every Christian's) life.
I've been reminded of how much I fear living a comfortable, mediocre Christian life. I've been reminded that this life is not about my selfish desires or futile plans that I have no control over. I've been reminded that the Lord is good, that He's in control, and that He knows what He's doing. I've been reminded that in surrender and sacrifice comes greater joy and fulfillment.

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
Matthew 13:44
Lord,
Help me not to forget the treasure that is you and your kingdom.
When my heart starts to wander, please remind me of your worth and the goodness of your ways.
Help me to joyfully surrender whatever you ask of me,
in order that I may follow you and know you more.
You're def not alone love! I need daily reminders that this is God's will for me right now. But God is the ultimate encourager! "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NIV)
