I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane!

It's official! My plane tickets are booked and I'm heading to Haiti in 21 days! I'll leave MD on August 14th and arrive in Haiti on August 15th. So excited!

The past couple weeks have been full of boat orders, shipments, and housing arangements with my new Haiti roommate, Katie. My housing plans got changed slightly, and instead of living in a big house with 3 other ladies, I'll be sharing an apartment with Katie. I'm sad to not be roomies with Tara and Megan anymore, but super excited to get to know Katie better!

Katie and I will be living here. I belive we are in the first apartment, closest to the bush (there are 3 above the storage space).

 

Since Katie and I will be starting fresh in the apartment, we have to bring down a bunch of extra stuff we weren't planning on bringing. We still can only bring two suitcases on the plane though, so that meant a lot of online shopping (with free shipping)! The food orders were due last week too, so we had to come up with a list of groceries to ship that'll last two people 4-5 months until the next boat is likely to come! We've been going back and forth through email on everything from laundry detergent to peanut butter lately! Luckily are taste buds seem to be pretty similar. :)

-That Katie and I would develop a great friendship and get along well as roommates.
-That all of our food orders and shipments make it to Haiti timely and in good condition, and that I can get everything else packed in luggage that weighs less than 50lbs!
-For a successful fundraising dinner I have coming up in August, and continued support raising.
-For a smooth transition out of work. I only have 7 work days left!
-For safe and easy travels for the entire team in a couple weeks.
